How to Do What You Love?

Do What You Love

How To Do What You Love?

This question must be one of the oldest ones and I am pretty sure that it was first asked when we developed a system of working for others and getting a payment in return for the first time. I honestly don’t know which civilization have developed such system first…I guess it doesn’t matter.

What matters though is that the moment we need to work in order to live, everything starts to get messed up. In the ancient times, working for living meant to catch your own food and gather it from the plants that nature provides free of charge. Today, working for living means to find a job that gives us money in return, which we then use for food, clothes and some place to live.

And this is where majority of us get stuck. When we think about work, we think about a work that makes us money, which is to be expected, since survival is our primary goal. However, we tend to forget that we are not here to work for money, but to work for ourselves.

The system does appear to contribute to this problem a great deal, but that is the world we created for ourselves and that is the world we will need to learn to live in, which doesn’t mean that you cannot do what you love.

It only means that finding something that you will love to do might take a bit more time and effort from your part, and you may need to dig trenches to get there, but that’s okay, since it is only temporarily.

Our Childhood

The greatest problems begin in our childhood when we are though that we must figure out what would we like to become when we grow up so that we can go to appropriate school and educate for that particular work. Very few of us are thought to find something to do that we would love to do, period.

The problem lies in the fact that we are thought to connect work with the money, so when we think about what to do, we think about what to do for money and not simply what to do. The moment we start to think about what to do for own happiness, the questions start popping up such as: “but how will I make money? How will I survive?”

The moment those questions appear in our mind, we return to our old ways of thinking to find a work for money. This is a result of fears from insufficiency that we are thought from the early days.

In order to do what you love, you must first find out what is it that you want to do. And to find that out, you must learn to separate that from the money. You should learn to stop looking for a work with intention to make money but rather start looking for things to do that you will love to do for yourself. Money will come. Stop worrying about it.

Find Your True Goal

There is a reason why any of us do anything at all. It is the purpose that drives us all to go on. It is a particular goal that we wish to achieve, whatever that goal might be. And depending on that goal, we make appropriate steps to get there.

If our goal is to have a lot of money, job security, a big house, a nice car, and a few other things aside, will make appropriate steps to achieve that. We will look for a job that will make all this come true and work with the intention to make enough money to buy all that. But will we love what we do? We might pretend to like it, but most likely we will not.

If our goal is to be happy and we are determined to do what we love no matter what and we have a clear vision what is it that we truly want to do in our life, we will make appropriate steps as well. We will look for work, activities and situations that will bring us closer and closer to that what we would love to do.

We will no longer look for a job to make money, but for a job that will allow us to expand ourselves the way we want, and even more, we might not look for a job at all and might seek for self-employment and online entrepreneurship opportunities.

To sum it all up, the first step to doing what you love is to find what that is and make every step according to that. Stop worrying about the money as money will come. At that point, don’t think about the money at all. Just think about what is it that you want to do and concentrate on that.

Make the Steps in Your Direction

How to do what you love? By doing it. Okay, I said that on purpose, as I know it sounds too straightforward and too simple, but there is a greater reality behind that statement and it is actually as simple as it sounds, but we make it as hard as we possibly can.

It is the same as asking how do I cut bread? By cutting it. Most of us would find that answer obvious without explanation needed. But if we would like an explanation we might say: take a bread, put it on a desk, take a sharp knife, put it on the top of a bread and with slight pressure make motions with your hand so that knife slides forward and backward without losing its grip with the bread. That would describe the actual cutting of bread.

So how to do what you love? Exactly the same way. First, you need to know what is it that you want to do, have a vision of that, and then begin making steps in that direction without losing the grip of it. Depending on your starting point, you might need to take several tedious actions on the way, but that is how we get there.

Sometimes we might need to have some boring job to make a living, work hard on our self-employment, start a blog and make money online by doing things that are not always easy or fun, but we should spend the rest of the time as much as possible to do what we love, which will eventually make it a priority in our life and will eventually become the only thing in our life as money will be taken care of when we will allow it to be.

If we concentrate on our dreams and do everything with that in mind, we will have a much easier time achieving our goal then if we constantly look for the things that aren’t the way they are supposed to be in any given moment. Just work your way through any way you need to. If you will be determined to get through, you will, and you will enjoy on the way as well.

If you know what is it that you want to do, there is absolutely no force in the universe that could possibly prevent you from doing it. There are only our own thoughts, excuses, and most of all – the thinking patterns that we take over from our parents and society. Read on to learn what that is all about.

Change Your Thinking Patterns

I would say that if you have come to the point to ask yourself how to do what you love, you are already a great deal ahead of most people who don’t even believe that they can do anything else from what they are already doing, whether they like it or not. It means that you believe that there is a way to live a life the way you actually want to live it. And that is one of the positive thinking patterns – thoughts that are constantly revolving around the same idea – the idea that life can actually be beautiful.

The reason why doing what we love isn’t as easy as cutting bread is due to those thinking patterns that we might interpret as “negative” or “detrimental” to achieving our goals. We should never blame anyone or anything for our own actions that we take in the wrong direction or the actions that we don’t take in the right direction. It is true that we took those patterns from our family and society, but now they are part of our mind and we can only do our best to change them.

Most commonly, we looked at our parents who didn’t do what they love and don’t think about doing it. Their thoughts oriented about those subjects and we, as completely open-minded child, unconditionally picked all those vibrations up, which slowly rearranged our brain cells according to those vibrations. As we grow up, our mind search for the same fears and the same joys as our parents did, which, if left unattended will guide us on the same path as that that our parents were walking.

The same applies to the stimulus that we take from the society and especially the media, which is full of crap that fills our heads with things that we don’t actually want in our life.

I do not want to talk about all kinds of thoughts that block our success, as there can be many of them, although most likely, we are thought into the believe that work is hard and tedious and we simply must accept that fact and give in with the rest of the people.

We might be thought that a school is hard and work that follows even harder, but that’s just what life is about – working hard and make a living. This is one of the very common misconceptions that we might have about life, and we should do our best to change such patterns as thinking like that is nothing short of irresponsible and can never bring any kind of freedom or actual joy in our life.

Joy comes out of open-mindedness and not out of strictly closed-for-business mind which can only think one and the same thoughts it was programmed to think.

Final Words

Instead of working for money, forget about money, and concentrate on love and happiness. Concentrate on the things that will give you so much life energy that you will be able to move mountains. Material things will be taken care of – you will take care of them, as they must be when you choose the path that will make you happy. If you will need something to be happy, you will obtain it unconditionally, because your happiness is a priority to you and will enable you to “have” things.

You must learn to accept new and innovative ideas that will allow you to do what you love. You should know that if you don’t change yourself, nothing will change as everything you come to experience respond to your own self. No amount of physical endeavor can change things if you don’t change your view on things.
