Free Yourself from the Captivity of Ego and Live Your Dreams
I don’t know if you’ve heard the song Innuendo from Queen, but one part of it goes like this:
You can be anything you want to be
Just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be
Be free with your tempo, be free be free
Surrender your ego – be free, be free to yourself
Now, what do you think of that? Especially the part: you can be anything you like to be; and: surrender your ego – be free, be free to yourself. If you connect those two statements you can come to a very simple outcome such as: Free yourself from the captivity of ego and be anything you want to be.
Be Anything You Want To Be
Would you like to be anything you want to be? Would you like to be able to do whatever you think of and be whatever you think of with nothing in this universe that could possibly stop you from doing that?
That is the unlimited power each and every one of us possesses, yet fail to use in order to create the reality we want to see.
Why do we feel that achieving something great requires enormous amount of endeavor and very few actually get to achieve something real? And I am not talking about having millions of dollars in your bank account as this is barely an achievement.
Today we are millionaires, tomorrow we are broke. We can achieve a lot on the way to becoming a millionaire, but having millions of dollars by itself is not an achievement. The real achievement is the one that cannot be undone.
Open Your True Eyes
If we want to find out what is it that we truly want to be, we have to stop looking with our current eyes as those eyes don’t have much idea about anything. Those eyes see what they are told to see and no more than that.
We believe that we want to be doctors, teachers, business men, superstars, lawyers, millionaires, and so on and so on. All those wishes have something to do with our ego and social position we would build by becoming someone like that.
But that is not necessarily who we truly want to be.
The only way we can ever know what is it that our true self wants is by listening to ourselves. If I want to be a doctor so that I will have lot of money and a lot of possession so that people will like me, that isn’t who I want to become, but someone who I try to cover myself with in order to escape the feeling of not being enough the way I am now. Stop listening to your fears and start listening to yourself.
Who do I want to be has nothing to do with the rest of the world as far as this is concerned. I may want become a doctor to help people and heal them, but not because of high social position and how people will see me, but because I feel that urge in me.
If there are no people, I might help animals. What I want to be and do has nothing to do with anyone else. It is simply a matter of my own inner desires that want to manifest in the outer world.
There is no point in leading a life of competition and fighting over who gets what, because what you want to be and what you want to do is available to your right now in all its magnificence and cannot be taken away from you by anyone.
But in order to see that, you need to open your true eyes. Eyes that don’t see a difference between me and you. Eyes that don’t see a difference between a person with no possessions and someone with a lot of possessions.
Open the eyes that simply say: “that is who I want to be and that is who I will become”. And discussion ends there. There are no obstacles, no one standing in the way, and no one telling you what to do or what not to do. You go and you start walking the path that you see in front of you.
Free Yourself from Little I and Live Your Dreams
As long as there is little I who wants to be adored by others, we cannot achieve our true potential because we are holding ourselves in the captivity of minuscule wishes that are already predefined by the society.
We do not want to become doctors or teachers or astronauts.
We want to become healers, educators, and explorers of the universe.
When you realize how very thin is the line between those two sentences, you will see how this one tiny little line holds everyone in captivity of miniscule achievements that never really adds much to our own expansion.
Final Words
If we live our dreams the way our society dictates us, we can never be happy. If we live our life the way our own self dictates us, we will be truly happy. It doesn’t matter if we are recognized or not, if are popular or not. Why would it? It does not make any difference whatsoever.
If we don’t live free from all boundaries but instead keep ourselves in the prison of social approval, we will achieve the same thing that millions of people before us did, and millions of people after us will. How could that make us happy? If there is no one who could see those silly achievements, no one will approve of us and we won’t feel any better. See beyond social approval and choose your life according to that clear sight – now, that will make you happy.
